Troubleshooting

Speedtest results got you down? Run through our easy troubleshooting steps.

Running Applications

If you're running multiple applications, such as bit torrents and video programs, then you are using up your available bandwidth. This can also slow down your computer's central processing unit (CPU).

Close multiple applications to allow Speedtest to run to its full potential.

Wireless Connection

Check your wireless strength. Ensure no one is sharing your wireless connection, which uses up your bandwidth and reduces your internet speeds.

If you have a router set up for a home network, make sure you're the only one connected during Speedtest. A better quality router can mean better speeds.

System Requirements

Is your computer as old as the VCR? Perhaps it's time for an upgrade.

Get the best internet speeds possible. Make sure your PC, MAC and router meet our minimum requirements.

Modem Connection

Check your modem connection. This will help Speedtest determine more accurate results.

If you have wireless and/or a router set up for a home network, connect your computer directly to your modem to ensure that you are the only one using your allotted bandwidth.
